Chapter 7

When the scandal broke about Celeste, I was just an intern at a newspaper.
Being bold and fearless, I snuck into a bar alone, hoping to uncover some sort of scandal.
After weeks of surveillance, I managed to catch footage of the bar owner’s illegal dealings.
Once my assignment was completed, I submitted the video evidence to the paper.
But what I didn’t expect was that I would also capture Celeste working as a bar girl.
When the story went viral, that was when I realized it was her.
Their breakup followed soon after.
Two years later, after Gavin won a major case and became a rising star in the legal world, I was sent to interview him.
Our connection grew from there.
We began dating and then got engaged, and everything progressed smoothly.
Not long after, I got pregnant.
With Oliver’s health issues, I decided to quit my job and become
a full–time mother.

I thought by now, Gavin had surely moved on from Celeste.
But I was wrong.
Celeste had always remained in his heart.

“I was the one who took those photos. Falsely accuse her? Did I force her into working as a bar girl?”
“But at that time, Celeste had no choice. Her father was sick, and she needed the money. She had no other options…” Gavin argued, attempting to justify her actions.
“That doesn’t change the fact that it’s the truth!” I snapped impatiently.
“You’re a lawyer–act like one. If you keep spewing these lies, you’re the one committing defamation!”
“You!”
Gavin’s face turned bright red with rage.
From the side, Alexander, who had been silently observing the drama, suddenly spoke up, “So, you two know each other?”
Before anyone could respond, Oliver was escorted out of the interrogation room.
“That’s him! The one who ruined my daughter’s life!” Alexander shouted, pointing directly at my son.

Gavin froze as his gaze followed the direction of his outburst.
“Oliver? What are you doing here?” His voice faltered, his shock evident.
