Q6
“Aurora, Aurora! If you keep touching me, I can’t be gentlemanly anymore!”
Quinton’s voice pulled me back from my chaotic thoughts.
Only then did I notice that his clothes were in disarray and my hand was tugging at his belt.
A wave of intense shame crashed over me, and I yanked my hand back in a flash.
“S–Sorry, I–I…”
Quinton sighed helplessly and stuffed a pill into my mouth. I swallowed it directly.
He was amused yet angry. “You are not cautious at all. You dare to eat anything I feed you!”
I blurted out instinctively, “You won’t harm me.”
Quinton was taken aback, and then a smile suddenly spread across his face. “You’re right.
Only I won’t harm you.”
After taking the pill, I fell asleep in a daze. I vaguely heard my phone ringing and Quinton speaking a lot.
The next day, when I woke up, he was already gone.
He left a note by the bedside, saying that he had an important thing to do today and asked
me to eat the oatmeal.
The oatmeal was in a thermos and, still warm.
Taking a bite, I immediately recognized Quinton’s cooking. After all, he was the one who had taught me how to cook.
I reached for my phone, only to find it out of power and switched off.
Concerned about my grandmother, I quickly got out of bed, ready to head to the hospital. At that moment, I noticed my knee, wrapped in gauze. There was a smiley face drawn on the gauze, a telltale sign that it was Quinton’s work. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
When I rushed to the hospital in a flurry, the doctor grinned at me and offered
congratulations. “Dr. Thompson has already completed your grandmother’s surgery, and it was
a great success.”
I was dumbfounded. “Dr. Thompson?”
“Yes! Mr. Cooper is truly well–connected. He managed to persuade Dr. Thompson to come!”
“Thank you.”
I stared at my grandmother in the ward, feeling mixed emotions.
Nathan was a jerk, but I was thankful to him for inviting the doctor for my grandmother.
I sat by the bedside and fed my grandmother a sip of warm water.
“Aurora, where’s Nathan?”
I smiled, “He has something to deal with at the company.”
My grandmother nodded. “Nathan is ambitious. You should care about him more and avoid
quarreling with him.”
I nodded. “Well, I see.”

My grandmother sighed and looked at me with a hint of sadness in her eyes. “I don’t know if

I’ll be able to see you get married before my death.”
She had previously told Nathan that she hoped I would marry him.
At that time, Nathan had said he’d think it over and told her not to worry. So, my grandmother had always assumed we were headed for marriage. She believed she could only rest in peace once she saw me happily wed.
I opened my mouth, yet I simply couldn’t find the courage to tell my grandmother about our breakup.
She had just undergone surgery, and I couldn’t bear to upset her.
“Aurora, did you and Nathan have an argument?”
A twinge of guilt shot through me.
Suddenly, the ward door swung open. I turned my head and saw Nathan, who was breathless.
“Nathan, you’re here. Come in and have a seat.”
My grandmother beckoned Nathan over before I could utter a word.
After casting a glance at me, he then stepped into the ward and sat down next to me. A jumble of emotions welled up inside me.
Nathan chatted with my grandmother for a while. Once she drifted off to sleep, we left the
ward.
“Thank you.”
“What the hell did you do last night?!”
Nathan and I spoke at the same time.
I was grateful, while he was exasperated.
Unable to contain my fury any longer, I glared at him and retorted sarcastically, “What did I do? Don’t you know what kind of drug your friend spiked with my drink?”
Without his implicit consent last night, his friend wouldn’t have dared to drug me.
Nathan grabbed my arm tightly, his rage palpable. “You slept with Quinton!”
I shook off his hand. “I’m not pure. I have the right to decide who I sleep with.”
“Aurora! You can be with any man you like, except Quinton!”
Nathan’s jealousy of Quinton was completely exposed.
