- 10.
When I got home, Mark would still send me messages, telling me what was going on. The soy milk in the company’s cafeteria was good, the co–workers don’t like the food so he got a new restaurant, and he saw a stray
cat.
He sent a picture, telling me that he adopted
- it.
Sometimes I would think back to when we
first dated.
We were far away, but we shared things.
Then we lived together.
We would still talk, but then Brenda showed
up and he talked to me less.
I was alone.
I felt like him now.
After a few days, I deleted his accounts.
He would find new ways to contact me.
One night he called me and told me that I was
heartless, and left him.
He told me what he thought of me.
Finally, he cried.
“We took so many pictures, why can’t I find
any?”
“Sarah, I miss you.”
A week later, I got a text.
Mark told me that he was getting married to
Brenda.
This wasn’t a surprise.
I got a promotion.
When I got home I started looking for a job,
and got a good one.
After three months I was a manager.
I said good luck, and I heard that Mark and
Brenda had a big wedding.
But they fought in front of everyone.
Mark pushed Brenda down the stairs.
<
The baby was lost.
People knew everything.
I heard what happened.
Brenda was bad at her job.
Mark told Brenda to apologize, but she threw
a drink at him.
The company was almost ruined.
Mark tried to fix it, but Brenda spent all his
money.
Mark was angry, but Brenda said that she
was pregnant.
He had to marry her.
At the wedding, Brenda did it again, and he
couldn’t hold it back.
He told her everything.
Brenda was sent to the hospital.
Mark sued her and wanted his money back.
Brenda went to jail.
I heard that Mark filed for bankruptcy and
disappeared.
The same day he went missing, I got
something.
It was in his name.
It was the deed to a house.
And a ring.
