The Price Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Let’s Get a Divorce

In the bedroom, Eliana stared at the pregnancy test results in her hands, barely containing her excitement

She couldn’t wait to share the good news with her husband. This would be their first child

She slipped on one of Samuel’s white dress shirts, thinking, Samuel will definitely find this sexy.” Satisfied after a quick glance in the mirror, she hurried to the study

Her husband was Samuel Nelson, the CEO of the multibillion dollar global finance conglomerate E&amp,S Nelson Corp. He was also a guest professor at her university

Eliana took her prenatal checkup report and opened the door

Samuel,as her eyes lit up, she called out softly, I brought you a surprise.”

Just as she walked toward him, she noticed something that stopped her in her tracks there was a woman in the study. beautiful woman

Her husband Samuel was gazing tenderly at this woman. The smile on his face was one Eliana had never seen before. That gentlenessit was something he had never shown her

Eliana froze, her smile fading away

A terrible pain gripped her chest, as if an invisible hand were squeezing her heart and gradually tearing it apart

Who was that woman?”

Chloe Howard approached Eliana at the doorway with hostility, whispering, Samuel doesn’t belong to you. He’s mine”

She reached out her hand, seemingly trying to provoke Eliana

Eliana knocked her hand away. I don’t know you. Don’t touch me!”

She had never liked being touched by strangers

Eliana’s husband at the computer, composed and dashing in a dark linen suit, glanced up from the screen at his wife with resignation in his eyes, Eliana, I don’t need any surprises right now. Please leave, we’re in a meeting.”

His dismissive words snapped her out of her daze

Her heart sank, and she instinctively hid the pregnancy report behind her back

Eliana didn’t know why. Maybe she was just too afraid afraid that the truth would destroy her

With a flush of hot anger threatening to overwhelm her, Eliana spun round and left, pulling the door shut behind her

In the dimly lit bedroom, Eliana sat motionless on the bed, staring at the ceiling

When she heard movement at the door, she quickly hid the pregnancy report and fixed her eyes on the opening door.

Samuel Nelson strode into the room

At 6 feet 2 inches tall, he commanded an air of superiority and nobility

Seeing his wife sitting obediently on the bed, and looking up at him, he walked over with the gift and handed it to her. He knew she was angry

Looking up at the tall man with her big, bright eyes, she asked innocently but with a hint of anger, Who was that woman earlier? Why did you bring her to our home?”

This was the man Eliana had married when she was just twenty years old, and he a whole decade older. Eliana didn’t want to believe such an accomplished and respected businessman would be unfaithful to her

Even though they hadn’t married for love. But in the six months since their wedding, they’d grown close, just like any normal newlyweds

To Eliana, this was their marital home. How could he bring a strange woman back, straight to his study no less?‘

Did he even care about her feelings?”

Samuel looked at his young wife, noting her displeasure. He wanted to soothe her gently as he always did when she got upset

But thinking of Chloe Howard’s appearance, knowing he’d have to give Chloe an explanation sooner or later, he really in the mood

He replied evenly, Just a friend.”

Really?Eliana frowned. She decided to press further

I’ve never seen you with a friend like that,” she said, and began to stand up. And if she’s just a friend, why bring her to our home?”

They’d only been married six months, and he’d dared to bring another woman home without her consent

His actions seemed careless, if not outright disrespectful

The situation could easily raise questionswas this woman truly just a friend, or was there something Samuel wasn’t telling her

Samuel listened but turned round before he lost his patience. He almost blurted out, Let’s get a divorce.”
