Chapter 2 Should I Tell Him I’m Pregnant?
Samuel thought it would be too cruel to bring up divorce now. He’d wait a little longer before addressing it.
As he left the room, Samuel said curtly, his attitude noticeably colder, “Get ready and come downstairs for dinner.”
Eliana watched him go, her heart aching. What is with his attitude? He’s never treated her like this before.”
She couldn’t shake a sudden dark sense of foreboding, as if she were about to lose something precious.
Not wanting to go downstairs or see another woman in her home, Eliana lay back on the bed.
Samuel sat alone in the dining room downstairs,
After waiting a while without his young wife coming down, his face as cold as stone, he instructed the housekeeper, “Nora, go call her. If she doesn’t come to eat now, she won’t eat today.”
Nora hurried upstairs to find Eliana.
Seeing her lying on the bed, Nora approached and said softly, “Mrs. Nelson, Mr. Nelson is calling you down for dinner Please come quickly, or he’ll get angry.”
This only upset Eliana more. She sat up and looked at Nora.
“I’m not angry, so why should he be? I don’t want to eat at
the sam
same table as another woman.
She was certain that the woman wasn’t just Samuel’s ordinary friend. Who knows what they discussed behind closed doors in his study? And now Samuel–her husband–wouldn’t explain and wanted to get mad at her?
No way
Nora whispered, “That woman’s already left. Only Mr, Nelson is downstairs. Go keep him company for dinner.” She looked at Eliana and implored her, “You missed him every day when he was gone, Mrs. Nelson, so why are you picking a fight now that he’s back?”
Nora thought, their young Mrs. Nelson was such a child’sometimes.
Thankfully, Mr. Nelson was patient and always doted on her. She might not have been so fortunate if she’d married someone else.
“She left?” Eliana asked, surprised. She stared at Nora. “Really? Samuel didn’t ask her to stay for dinner?” Eliana paused, then asked, “Nora, do you know what their relationship is? Why did Samuel bring her to our home?”
Nora shook her head. “I don’t know much about Mr. Nelson’s relationship with that woman, but surely he is an honorable man. I do not think he would cheat on you, Mrs. Nelson.” Then she added, “If you want to know about her. I think you should ask Mr. Nelson.”
As a housekeeper, Nora had no way of knowing about her employer’s private affairs.
Eliana took a deep breath and resolved to clear things up with Samuel.
After Nora left the room, she quickly hid her pregnancy report and went downstairs.
She entered the dining room quietly and sat down opposite her husband. She stole quick glances at him.
And when he ignored her, she angrily stabbed her knife and fork at the beef tenderloin on the plate in front of her.
Her delicate elfin face twisted with displeasure.
Finally, Samuel set down his cutlery and looked at her. Seeing his young wife’s odd behavior, he couldn’t help but reach out to pinch her cute flushed little cheek. He chided gently. “Why are you wasting food? Eat properly.”
Eliana pushed his hand away, unhappily saying, “Something’s not right, Samuel. This time you’re back but it’s different from before. Can’t you just be honest with me?”
She looked at him, her eyes full of innocence.
Samuel gazed back at her. Sometimes he really thought this girl was like a work of art, too beautiful.
So small and delicate, and she smelled nice when he held her.

But as lovely as she was, he would eventually have to let her go.
“I don’t have anything on my mind,” he said. “Just eat.” Avoiding her eyes, he sat up straight and returned to his meal.
Eliana watched him. The man’s every move seemed deliberately practiced, elegant and composed, exuding charm.
Eliana adored him so much that just one slightly gentle word made her forget about the woman from earlier. She quickly lowered her head to eat.
Samuel quietly pushed his chair back and walked round the table. He gently took her knife and fork and carefully picked out some food and feeding her. “Eat slowly, Eliana,” he said.
Eliana looked up, her eyes glinting, her mouth open. She melted when he called her name.
After dinner, she clung to him as usual.
Samuel never minded his young wife’s closeness, and always responded to her affection.
They sat on the couch while Nora cleared the plates. He held her on his lap and kissed her. After a while, Samuel carried Eliana upstairs and to the bathroom.
Eliana knew Samuel had strong sexual needs. Every time he returned from a trip, he’d coax her into long lovemaking
sessions.
On the
way to the bathroom, Samuel skillfully slipped off the little cocktail dress Eliana wore and popped the front fastener on her bra. As he walked, he began kissing her breasts and sucking on her nipples.
The places Samuel kissed instantly became sensitive. Eliana’s breathing quickened. “Oh, Samuel,” she whispered. And in the bathroom, he sat her on the counter, his large hands gently spreading her thighs.
