Chapter 24 I’ll Sign the Divorce Papers (1)
Divorce-
Hearing this word from Samuel’s mouth, Eliana’s heart turned to ash.
She felt desolate.
Her throat was so choked up she couldn’t utter a word.
Her whole body went limp as she slowly crouched down, curling up on the floor, not knowing what to do in her despair. ‘Samuel wants to divorce her now. What will she and the baby in her belly do in the future?”
Eliana curled up there, sobbing, lacking the courage to respond to the person on the phone. Samuel’s cold voice came through again.
“Eliana, I’ll provide you with enough financial security. I won’t abandon you in the future.
Eliana struggled to control her emotions, trying not to cry out loud. Her voice was tiny as she said, “Samuel. Thank you for saving me back then, thank you for taking care of me all these years, thank you for letting me fulfill my wish of marrying
you
“I won’t be a stumbling block to you marrying someone else. You’re so capable, even if I don’t go to city hall, you should be able to get the divorce done, right?
She continued, “After all, few people know we’re married. You can use your power to have them delete our marriage records. As for the financial security you mentioned, I don’t need it. Samuel, I wish you happiness.”
After saying the last word, she hung up the phone and curled up on the floor, unable to hold back her sobs.
She was so useless, unable to keep Samuel.
Unable to give their child a complete family.
Eliana told herself. ‘Eliana, you’re ultimately abandoned by this world.”
“You have no father, no mother, and now the only family in your life is leaving you. From now on, you’ll be alone.”
No, you still have the child in your belly”
‘You must live well, be strong, don’t do anything foolish.”
But she was in so much pain, her whole body ached. Eliana lay on the floor, her entire body convulsing with sobs.
In the living room of their home, Samuel stared at his phone for a while.
Thinking about what Eliana had said on the phone, he felt so discomfited, like he was sitting on pins and needles. Finally, he got up and walked out while calling Ethan.
“Send me the address of Eliana’s hotel.”
“She’s at the Excelsior, Mr. Nelson,” Ethan replied.
“Tight,” Samuel said, and drove to the hotel himself.

The Excelsior Hotel was a property of E&S Nelson Corporation. Before Samuel arrived, Ethan had already informed the hotel staff, allowing Samuel to head straight to Eliana’s room without any delays.
Samuel opened the door with the room card.
When the door opened Samuel saw the woman lying on the floor, and he panicked.
He rushed over and sat down beside Eliana’s small, thin body, calling out anxiously, “Eliana, Eliana-
The moment Eliana looked up and saw Samuel, a wave of grief flooded her heart.
She quickly moved away from him, sitting back, smearing tears from her cheeks mixed with mascara, but her eyes clear. She said, “Did you bring the divorce papers for me to sign? Okay, I’ll sign them. Samuel, I’ll sign. I won’t hold you back from marrying someone else”
As soon as she finished speaking, she blinked hard, squeezing her hands to prevent them from trembling.
Samuel looked at her, feeling heartbroken.
“Come here,” he said, and moved over to her. She surrendered and he rocked her in his arms, lowering his voice, he added, “I’m sorry. I didn’t handle things well. Hey Eli, don’t cry anymore.”
“I’m not crying. Samuel, I’ll sign. I’ll divorce you right now. I promise I won’t appear in front of you again. I won’t bother you and Chloe.”
She shuddered under his arms.
Samuel listened to her sobbing, feeling a great weight pressing down inside.
“Silly girl, I’m not asking you to disappear. I told you I won’t abandon
you.”
“Samuel, I know you’ve done more than enough for me. I shouldn’t cling to you anymore. I’ll let go.”
Eliana forcibly unclasped her husband’s hards and frantically started looking through his pockets.
“Samuel, give me the agreement. I’ll sign it right now.”
“I didn’t bring it. How could I bear to see you like this?”
He hugged her again, lifted her up, and sat her on the bed. He cradled her elfin little face and kissed her.
Then, with t
This nose touching her delicate nose and his face close to hers, he said gently, “I know my Eliana can’t leave me. If you can’t leave, then don’t leave, okay?”
Eliana shook her head, crying. “No, it’s not okay. You’ve already brought her back. How can I face that?”
Samuel looked at her intently and said, “Is her presence bothering you that much? Do you want to hear why I’ve been so accommodating to her?”

tried to calm herself. Looking at the man she loved deeply, she nodded, trying to suppress the pain in her heart. She really did want to know why Samuel was so accommodating of Chloe.
Samuel pulled her onto his lap, gently wiping the tears from her cheeks with his fingertips. In a calm voice, he began to tell the story of his past with Chloe.
