Chapter 25 What If I’m Pregnant?
Samuel began to talk about the past. “About ten years ago there was an accident. I hit her with my car, which led to her having to have surgery and her uterus removed and so being unable to have children. I’ve always felt guilty about this and once promised to take responsibility by marrying her
“Later, she went abroad, and I thought she wouldn’t come back. Unexpectedly, just six months after I married you–just recently, she suddenly returned. Her purpose was to make me fulfill my promise.”
Stroking Eliana’s cheek, Samuel’s voice became a bit heavy. “Tell me, what could I do?”
Eliana was stunned. So that’s how it is.”
No wonder Samuel wanted her to have a child, and Chloe agreed. It is because Chloe couldn’t have children.”
Then, is she just a tool for Samuel to have children?
Eliana felt a bit dazed and mumbled, “Do you love her?”
This time, Samuel didn’t avoid the question. “I said, my marriage to her has nothing to do with love.”
“But you kissed her at the house,” Eliana said. “I saw you.”
Samuel felt confused. “When did I kiss her?”
Eliana stared at him. “Yesterday. I saw you kiss her as soon as I came home.”
“No Eli,” Samuel said, “You saw wrong. I was just helping her stand.”
Eliana fell silent. She didn’t know what else to say.
It seemed that from Samuel’s perspective, he was indeed in a difficult position.
Samuel held her tight and lowered his head to her ear, his voice becoming much gentler. “Eliana, be good, don’t be upset with me. When Chloe gets better, I’ll have her leave.”
Eliana remained silent, but she wanted to give Samuel another chance.
After all, if he didn’t like Chloe, he was trying to fix things, just felt indebted to Chloe.
She also believed that someone as capable as Samuel could surely handle Chloe.
“Are you hungry?” Samuel asked caringly, seeing his wife in his arms wasn’t speaking. Eliana nodded, saying pitifully, “I am hungry. I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday.”
“I thought so.” Samuel said. “How about you freshen up and we’ll go eat?”
Eliana nodded, but just as she was about to get up, Samuel reached out his arms and picked her up and carried her to the bathroom
Eliana didn’t resist, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Samuel set her on the washstand, took a washcloth, and personally helped her clean her face, then put toothpaste on a toothbrush and handed it to her.
After finishing, he carried her back to the room. He picked up her hairbrush and brushed her hair, and even knelt down to put on her shoes.
Eliana watched his attentive and gentle actions, feeling a swell of memories.
So, someone who treated her this well must love her in his heart.
In the future, she’d try to be more understanding and avoid quarreling with him as much as possible.
At a cozy diner, Samuel ordered Eliana the all–day breakfast he knew she liked.
But Eliana only picked a little at the hashbrowns and didn’t touch her egg. he asked with concern, “What’s wrong. Eli? Not to your liking?”
She
shook her head.

“Then why are you eating so little?”
“I really wanted some fruit,” she said.
Samuel called over the server and ordered a slice of cantaloupe.
When it arrived Eliana set to forking the cubes into her mouth.
Samuel suddenly felt hungry and started working on her sausage and egg. After swallowing, he looked at Eliana again and said, “When we’ve finished eating, you’ll come back with me?”
Eliana nodded, obediently saying, “Okay.”
“No more tantrums from now on.”
“No more tantrums.”
She ate the melon. This cantaloupe is yum,” she said.
Suddenly remembering something. Eliana lifted her eyes to look across the booth at her husband and asked in a low voice, “Samuel, do you really not need me to have a baby anymore?”
Samuel returned her gaze and said, “You’re still young and in school. Let’s not have a baby now.”
“What if I’m already pregnant?” Eliana blurted out,
