Chapter 30 Close Call! (1)
They both screamed for help. Just before they could grab the girls, a group of security guards burst in and knocked the men in black to the ground.
All hell broke loose.
The leader of the men in black yelled furiously. “Who the fuck are you guys? Got some nerve messing with my business!”
Scared out of their minds, Eliana and Hannah took advantage of the chaos and made a run for it.
These security guards must have been arranged by the KTV owner. Worried about potential trouble, Eliana had owner a heads–up beforehand. Thankfully, the owner knew both Eliana and Samuel, and was well aware of their relationship.

Eliana dragged Hannah out of the KTV and frantically tried to flag down a cab on the street.
Once they got in the taxi, Eliana finally caught her breath.
Hannah was still apologizing in her ear, “I’m so sorry, Eli. I was such a greedy idiot.”
Eliana looked at her friend and said, her voice cool, “At least you had enough conscience to come clean with me. But this could’ve ended really badly. I’m not ready to forgive you right now. Just get yourself home those guys might come after you.”
With tears in her eyes, Hannah asked, “Who’s pissed at you, Eli? Why are they trying to hurt you? If it wasn’t me, they probably would’ve found someone else or tried another way.”
“I honestly have no clue who’s got it in for me,” Eliana said curtly, then told the driver, “Please stop at the next intersection.” Before getting out, Eliana turned to her friend and said, “Stay put at home. I might need you as a witness.”
Hannah nodded quickly. “Okay, and you be careful.”
Eliana got out of the taxi. “Sure, Hannah,” she said, and closed the door. After watching the taxi drive away, she pulled out her phone. She checked the time. It was 3 PM, which meant Samuel should still be at work. Eliana hailed another cab and directed the driver to E&S Nelson Corporation. In the car, she dialed Samuel’s number. He picked up right away.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“Samuel,” she said, “I’m heading to your office. I need to talk to you.”
He could hear something off in her voice. “What’s wrong?” he said.
Eliana clutched her purse in her lap and stared out the window at the mid–afternoon traffic. “Someone tried to hurt me,” she said. “If I wasn’t smart about it, I’d probably be in some really bad people’s hands right now.” Then she added, “I’m scared, Samuel,”
Samuel asked urgently. “Where are you now?”

The Price of His Love
Chapter 30 Close Call! (2)
She looked up at the approaching building and the famous name on the signage. “I think I’m almost at your office,” she said.
Samuel got up from his desk and walked over to the window. He said, “I’ll have Ethan come down to get you.”
After hanging up, Eliana tried to pull herself together. As she got out of the taxi and walked toward the towering E&,S Nelson Corporation building, her anxiety finally started to ease.
Ethan was already waiting at the entrance. When he saw Eliana, he greeted her with a nod, “Mrs. Nelson.”
“Hi, Ethan, thanks for coming down,” she said, as she gazed up the side of the skyscraper. The scale was even more impressive than she’d imagined – all 128 floors belonged to E&S Nelson Corporation. No wonder every college grad was dying to get their foot in the door here – it was a blue chip company with impressive salaries and even more impressive bonuses.
Ethan smiled and was easy–going in his reply, which Eliana was glad of. “No problem at all,” he said, as he led Eliana to Samuel’s office. This was Eliana’s first time visiting Samuel’s company and along the corridors, several employees watched her arrival, curious about this lovely young woman.
Following Ethan into the elevator, Eliana watched the numbers climb rapidly until they reached the 88th floor. As they stepped out, and under the watchful eyes of Samuel’s personal assistant, Eliana approached the CEO’s office. She pressed a button on the desk phone in front of her and announced Eliana’s arrival “Send her in,” Eliana heard.
Ethan opened the door and looked at her, “It’ll be okay, Mrs. Nelson,” he said, and closed the door behind her.
Eliana walked in then stopped. She found her mouth was open and quickly closed it while she gazed around his enormous sunlit office. It had a minimalist yet luxurious feel. She noticed the Bauhaus style furniture and what looked like a genuine Mondrian hanging above a beige leather suite of sofas to her right.
From behind his desk, Samuel asked, “What happened?”
Eliana immediately remembered why she was here and bearing his voice she rushed round his desk and her husband got his executive chair rolled back just in time for her to drop into his lap. Then she curled up against him. “Sam,” she said, “I didn’t know what to do.”
CEO Samuel Nelson was working, but he didn’t push her away – he was used to her being clingy.
Looking down at Eliana and seeing she was clearly shaking, his voice softened, “Tell me,” he asked, “Who tried to hurt you?”
Eliana pressed her head against his chest. “Someone bribed my roommate to get me to a KTV place. They were planning to drug me,” she said. “My roommate’s not completely terrible, I guess, – she came clean about being part of the set up, but she doesn’t know who those people were.”
Then looking at Samuel, she said, “But I bet it was Chloe. She probably wanted to drug me and film me with some random guy to blackmail me into leaving you. Or she’d show you the pictures to make you kick me out.”
