Chapter 31 Samuel Hugs Chloe Right in Front of Her (1)
Samuel’s face darkened instantly. With an icy expression, he tapped the screen on a tablet in front of him and said, “Ethan,
in here.”
Ethan immediately entered, nodding, “Sir.”
Samuel gave his instructions. “Look into what happened to Ell today. I want results by tonight.”
As Ethan was about to leave, Eliana quickly added, “It happened at Midnight Melody Karaoke. If you can’t find anything, you can ask my roommate Hannah. Just don’t tell her about my relationship with Samuel – say you’re cops and she’ll cooperate.”
Ethan listened and looked at his boss, then back at Eliana. “Got it,” he said, and walked towards the door. “You’ll need to text me her contact details, Mrs. Nelson,” he added and quietly closed the door behind him.
Eliana snuggled back into Samuel’s arms, whimpering. “Samuel, didn’t you hear what I said? I think Chloe’s behind this.”
“Don’t make accusations without proof,” he said over the top of her head.
Eliana sat up straight, letting go of him. She looked at him with a frown and said, “You think I’m wrongly blaming Chloe?”
Samuel’s expression remained stern. “Eliana,” he said, “It’s unwise to throw accusations around. Everything needs evidence.”
Eliana was startled. “But she’s the only one that’s pissed at me, Sam!” she said, and her voice suddenly dropped to a whisper. “Who else would want to hurt me? Chloe’s warned me several times, even tried to bribe me with $200,000 to leave you.”
Samuel looked at his contrite young wife pouting in his lap and decided not to argue further. Instead he sighed and pushed her head to rest on his shoulder then returned to reading and signing the documents in front of him.
“Let me handle this, Eliana,” he said. “And I’ll decide if your friend is involved.”
Eliana watched his lips as he placed another document beside the tablet. “Okay,” she said, wrapping her arms around his neck, feeling reassured and ready to doze off.
Samuel didn’t push her away. He actually didn’t mind working with her in his arms. After all, he was used to working like this when she cuddled him in his study. Just then, his personal assistant walked in with his usual mug of hot coffee on a tray, plus one for the young lady. She froze at the sight.
Their usually ice–cold, untouchable CEO was casually working while holding a woman? Who was she? His wife? No way- their CEO was definitely single. Plus, this girl looked so young–barely old enough for marriage. His sister maybe? She hadn’t moved while these thoughts chased each other through her head. That’s all the secretary could think of- certainly no random woman could get this close to their CEO. But looking at the ease with which Samuel Nelson sat there with Mont Blanc fountain pen poised over documents, girl cuddled on his lap, they seemed way too intimate…
“What are you staring at?” Samuel said, and his personal assistant almost dropped the tray.
“Sorry sir, here’s your coffee,” she said, “I made two cups. Also cookies.” She put down the tray at the edge of Samuel’s desk and scurried away.
Eliana nuzzled against Samuel, “Aww, you’re so scary. You frightened that pretty secretary.”
Samuel turned to look at her, and said in deadpan voice, “Want me to throw you out the window?”
The Price of His Love

“Nope!” She said quickly and tightened her grip around his neck.
He reprimanded her for interrupting his work but found he couldn’t be angry. Besides, she’d had a fright whatever she was up to “Then behave yourself and stop squirming around,” he said. Every time she sat on his lap, she got restless. Now she was starting to turn him on, and that was not a sight for his personal assistant’s eyes.
Hearing the change in his tone, Eliana went still in his arms although it was challenging. Samuel looked so sexy while working. She felt his intimacy under her and needed to adjust her sitting position. Mission accomplished, and feeling secure in the warmth of his arms around her, Eliana dozed off.
She was still asleep when Samuel finished his work, so he wrapped his jacket around her small frame and carried her out of the office. Though plenty of employees saw them, nobody dared gossip about the woman’s identity.
Eliana woke
oke up just as Ethan was pulling into the driveway. Finding herself still in Samuel’s arms, she yawned, “Samuel, are we home?” she asked.
“Yes we are,” he said, as Ethan opened his boss’s door.
Abruptly, Eliana got off Samuel’s lap and exiting the vehicle, and said, “I need to pee.”
Once out of the car, Eliana rushed toward the house, wondering if she was going to hold it in before she got to the bathroom.
Samuel watched her hurrying to the house, rolled his eyes and got out. Ethan closed the door behind and he strolled behind her at his own pace towards the house.
Eliana’s sudden entrance caught Chloe off guard, so she didn’t have time to hide her phone before Eliana spotted it. She tried to quickly stuff the phone into her purse while pretending to fumble for her crutch.
Walking to the bathroom, Eliana wondered about what she had seen. She thought, “Wasn’t Chloe supposed to be blind? How was she looking at her phone just now? Could she possibly be faking her blindness? Eliana figured she needed to know. ‘Well,‘ she thought, ‘there’s one way to find out.”
Seeing Samuel coming in, Chloe quickly stood up with her crutch, “Sam, you’re home from work?” she asked, facing the window.
“Yes.” he replied drily. Then he walked over to where she was sitting and sat down beside her, “How are you feeling today? Is your leg better?” he asked.
“Yes,” she said, rubbing her ankle, “I’ve been exercising quite a bit and it made a difference.”
He looked carefully at her. “And your eyes? Can you see anything?”
Chloe shook her head quickly, “Still can’t see anything everything’s just dark.” She reached out, pretending to search for Samuel. When she started to fall, Samuel quickly steadied her.
“It’s okay, take it slow,” he said. “I’ll have doctors check on you regularly. You’ll get better.”
Chloe deliberately leaned into him, “But Sam, I’m still scared,” she said, her voice sugary sweet “What if I never see again, Sam?”
Samuel didn’t push her away. He held her close and his voice gentle, said, “Even if you never see again, you’ll have me. I’ll take care of you forever.”
When Eliana came out of the bathroom, she saw Samuel holding Chloe on the living room couch.
