Chapter 38 Two Days Without Food! (1)
Eliana instinctively turned her head away.
When she saw Samuel’s hand frozen in mid–air, not landing on her cheek, tears still fell.
She choked up, asking while her heart quietly broke, “Were you going to hit me?” Samuel dropped his hand and closed his
eyes.
Eliana cried, “Samuel, you watched me grow up, kept me by your side, and married me because you understood me and I thought you knew who I really was. But I was wrong. You’re the blind one,” at this point she had to laugh at the irony. “You only see what’s on the surface. Whenever it’s about Chloe, you think I’m at fault, that I’m trying to hurt her.”
Samuel’s expression grew darker. Eliana went on unafraid. “Fine, I’ll tell you myself – I hate Chloe. Or maybe you want to hear me say that I wish she would die so no one could take you away from me. Or that I’m ruthless and evil in trying to stay by your side, just wanting to take your money?”
Eliana was devastated but angry too.
Her heart had never hurt as much as when Samuel raised his hand to hit her.
elt awful, like her whole world was crumbling.
Unable to stay any longer, she ran out the door.
Samuel looked at his hand.
Surprised, he wondered if he really meant to hit her.
How could he even think of hurting her?
Looking back at the disgusting things on the bed, he doubted again – if Eli didn’t do it, how could a blind Chloe have done it?
Nora wouldn’t do such a thing either.
He hadn’t wrongly accused his wife, he was certain.
Yet she seemed to be more angry than he was.
In the next room, Chloe lay in bed smiling.
She knew Eliana was no match for her.
Eliana returned to her room, locked the door, lay on the bed, and cried.
When she was done crying, she washed her face and suddenly felt exhausted.
When she lay down again, she fell asleep.
When Samuel came back to rest at eleven, he found the door locked.
He put his hands on his hips and quietly said, “fuck.”
So she wasn’t letting him in?
He hadn’t even punished her, and here she was showing attitude.
Samuel had no choice but to sleep in the guest room.

Chapter 38 Two Days Without Food! (2)
The next morning, when Samuel finished his morning routine and left his room, he saw the master bedroom door still
closed
He tried pushing it but couldn’t open it
Thinking about Eli’s state last night, Samuel grew worried
He had Nora bring the key and went in.
In the room, he found Eliana sat curled up on the floor, leaning against the bed, staring blankly out the window
She had woken up early.
When she woke, she thought about her childhood.
At the orphanage, being smaller than other kids, they always took her toys.
With no toys, she’d play in the yard alone
Seeing frogs in the flower bed, she’d squat there playing with them for hours.
Later, she asked the orphanage director for a glass jar to keep the frogs as pets.
When Samuel visited her at the orphanage, she happily gave him her frog friend as a gift.
Samuel probably thought she liked those little animals, so when they got married, he specially added frogs and many fish to the pand in their backyard.
Now those creatures that held such beautiful memories for her had become a cruel joke on Chloe’s bed, and Samuel immediately assumed she did it
After all, Chloe was blind–how could she catch those things?
Eliana thought about how good an actress Chwas
It made Eliana seethe.

Pretending to be blind and weak – what a pity she wasn’t a real actress.
Samuel came over and looked at her on the floor, and said, his voice cold.
“What are you doing sitting there?” Eliana ignored him, refusing to look his way.
Samuel stepped closer and said, “Go apologize to Chloe later, and we’ll forget about yesterday.” Eliana kept quiet, holding her anger inside.
Seeing that she refused to speak, Samuel crouched down and tried to lift her chin to face him.
Eliana immediately closed her eyes, refusing to look at him.
Samuel became unhappy, and sighed. “Eliana,” he said, his voice sounding weary. “Who are you throwing a tantrum at? Are you trying to make me angry?”
Eliana avoided his hand and continued to stare out of the window.
Then speaking firmly, she said: “I won’t apologize to her, Samuel. If you don’t believe she’s faking being blind, install security cameras in the house.”
“You think I wrongly accused you?” Samuel stood up, losing his patience.
Eliana looked down and said, “Haven’t you wrongly accused me enough times?”
Looking at the person who always seemed to make unreasonable trouble, Samuel pressed his lips together, anger rising to his brows.
He gritted his teeth, and emphasizing every syllable, “E–li–an–a Nel–son, I swear…”
“If you won’t apologize, stay in this room and reflect. No food for two days.”
