Chapter 4 She Won’t Get Divorced
Samuel didn’t want to look at her pitiful little face anymore. He pushed her aside, opened the door, and left.
Eliana’s mind felt like a wine dark sea, leaving her adrift and utterly alone. Her body froze. She could only watch helplessly as the man she loved walked away, the echo of his heels fading in the hallway.
She was trying to process what he’d said.
“What did he say? Go to city hall to get divorced? In a little while?‘
‘Divorce?
“Samuel wants to divorce her?‘
Eliana felt an ocean of darkness freezing round her heart. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor, tears streaming down her face
“Why? Isn’t their married life going well?’
Why does Samuel wants to divorce her?”
Moreover, she was pregnant with their child.
Eliana couldn’t accept this sudden blow. She lay curled up on the floor by the bed and wept.
She cried for a long, long time. Then, thinking of the baby in her belly, she knew she couldn’t be too heartbroken. She got onto her knees and crawled into bed and pulled the sheet over her head. She tried her best to control her emotions.
But it hurt too much. She couldn’t understand how their seemingly good marriage had come to the point of divorce.
Eliana couldn’t accept this reality.
She wouldn’t get divorced.
If not for herself, then for the sake of the baby. She had to fight for their rights as mother and child.
Early the next morning, after showering and getting dressed, Eliana went downstairs, looking worn out. She had woken to an empty bed.
Not seeing Samuel in the dining room, she sat down at the table and asked Nora, who was preparing breakfast.
“Nora, did he not come back after going out last night?”
Nora sighed and nodded. “It seems so, Mrs. Nelson. Did you and Mr. Nelson have a fight last night? Why did he leave you and go out so late?”
Eliana’s thoughts were too far away and she didn’t have the energy to respond to Nora’s questions.
Hearing that Samuel hadn’t returned all night, her heart sank..
‘So Samuel is dead set on divorce?
Just because of that woman he brought home yesterday?”
Eliana still couldn’t accept this.
After eating a little, she went straight out and took a taxi back to her university. It was Monday, and as a sophomore, her course load was quite heavy.
Even if her marriage was falling apart, she couldn’t fall behind in her studies.
Finally enduring until all her afternoon classes ended, Eliana looked down at her phone, still seeing no messages from
Samuel
Her chest tightened with pain again.
A classmate said in her ear, “Eli, let’s go to the cafeteria for dinner.”
Eliana put away her phone and got up to leave with her classmate.
Halfway there, a student ran up to her and asked, “Excuse me, are you Ellana?”

She Want des enten
Eliana looked at her, somewhat puzzled, and said, “Yes, I am. Can I help you?”
The student said, “Someone’s looking for you at the school gate. They want you to go there right away.
‘Someone is looking for her?”
Who could it be?
Curious, Eliana turned and headed towards the university front gate.
When she arrived, she was greeted by a middle–aged man.
The man stepped forward, nodding. “Mrs. Nelson, this way please.”
Eliana followed the man to the roadside. When he opened the car door, she saw who was sitting inside.
She recognized her immediately. It was the woman from Samuel’s study.
Eliana felt an inexplicable sense of crisis take over her and pin her to the sidewalk. She managed to look guardedly at the woman in the car.
The woman returned her gaze and said, “Please get in the car, Eliana. I’ll take you to dinner.”
Eliana remained expressionless, neither speaking nor moving.
The woman continued, “My name is Chloe Howard. I don’t know if you’ve heard my name from Sam.”
‘So this is the woman who called Samuel last night, saying she had twisted her ankle and asking Samuel to keep her company.”
Eliana instantly knew it was also because of her that Samuel wanted a divorce.
Eliana looked at the woman in the car and angrily asked, “What do you want from me?”
Chloe sat back in her seat and raised her chin, unsurprised by the hostility in this little girl. She replied with thinly disguised contempt.” To talk about Sam, of course. What’s wrong, are you afraid of me?”
Eliana wasn’t about to get into the car. She felt hatred whirling inside her like a tornado. “Afraid of you? You homewrecker. You shameless bitch!”
