Then Eliana’s large eyes immediately streamed with tears.

Faced with her questioning. Samuel lifted her onto his lap, patting her back helplessly. “No crying. You’re all grown up now, do I still need to comfort you?”
Eliana was having none of this. “I don’t need your comfort. I’m not a friggin‘ child. Let me down, I’ll sit by myself.”
She tried to get off his lap.
But Samuel was holding her tight. His face suddenly darkened. “Be good, Ell, don’t make me angry.”
Eliana looked up, saw his unhappy expression, and didn’t dare to argue further. She could only lay on his chest, quietly sobbing
She tried to explain the day’s events. “I didn’t go looking for trouble with that woman, Samuel. She came to=”
“Let’s forget about what’s past,” Samuel said. “Don’t mention it again.”
Samuel cut her off, just wanting to hold her quietly for a moment.
Eliana persisted. “But that woman came to my school and-”
“Enough, Eliana, I said don’t mention it again.” Samuel’s voice turned cold.
Eliana was silent, sitting up straight and staring at him.
Samuel’s face was stem, “From now on, you’re not allowed to look for her, and absolutely no hitting her. My divorcing you has nothing to do with her. If you’re upset, you can be angry with me.”
Eliana felt like a knife was twisting in her heart.
Samuel clearly cared more about that woman.
Angrily, she got off Samuel’s lap, sat beside him and stared out the window, and didn’t speak for the rest of the drive.
Samuel didn’t bother her either.
When they got home, he saw she didn’t want to get out of the car, arms crossed in anger.
He tried to lift her, but Eliana was in a bad mood and pushed his hands away. She jumped out of the car and entered the
house first
Samuel followed helplessly behind.
At dinner, it was just the two of them, but Eliana didn’t say a word the whole time. After the meal, she went to their bedroom, and lay on the bed with a book.
Samuel went to work in his study for a while before coming to bed around ten
He took a shower, came to the bedside wrapped in a towel, and seeing Eliana still reading, he got into bed and took her
book away.
He leaned down to kiss her, but she dodged him.
Eliana asked with teary eyes, “What exactly do you think I am? A toy to satisfy your lust?”
Since he d returned from his business trip, they hadn’t been intimate for about twenty days.
But hearing her words, he instantly lost interest.
“Eliana, how long are you going to keep this up?”
If he didn’t cherish and spoil her, no woman on earth would dare to give him attitude. His patience had limits.
His anger made Eliana feel even more wronged.
“I just want to know what you think of me. Arn I your wife? If I’m your wife, why do you want to divorce me and marry someone else? I don’t want to fight with you, but I’m hurting. Do you know how much I’ve suffered these days? Have you considered my feelings at all?”

Chapter E
Eliana didn’t understand why, if Samuel was going to divorce her, he still wanted to slee
Samuel was speechless, seeing her about to cry again made him feel awful.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms, softening his tone.
“I’m sorry, it’s my fault,” he said gently.
“I don’t want your apology.” Eliana said, “I just want you to stay away from other women and not divorce me. Can’t we just be good together like before?”
She couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. The hurt she’d been suppressing these days finally burst.
And her crying made Samuel’s heart ache.
He held her tight and comforted her. “Okay, we won’t get divorced,” he said.
Eliana was a bit surprised, looking up at him with teary eyes. “Really?” she asked.
“Yes”
He held her close, his heart a mix of emotions.
Just then, there was a tap at their bedroom door and then Nora’s voice. “Mr. Nelson, are you asleep?”
Samuel, still holding Eliana, tumed his head towards the door and responded, “What is it?”
“Mr. Nelson, Ms. Howard is here again. She’s downstairs and says she wants to see you.” Samuel frowned, not understanding why Chloe would come at this hour.
He got up to get dressed
Eliana hadn’t expected that woman to shamelessly and come again. ‘How could she?”
What angered her more was Samuel putting his clothes on.
Upon hearing that woman had come, he immediately let go of her and prepared to go downstairs:
Eliana looked at Samuel, who was now dressing, and with reddened eyes asked, “How do you plan to deal with her?” “I’ll go down and see. You be good and go to sleep,” he said.
Eliana couldn’t possibly sleep.
She needed to see what Chloe had come for.
And see how her dear husband would handle it.
Samuel, in his casual home clothes, came downstairs and immediately saw Chloe sitting on the living room sofa,
Chloe saw him too.
She hurriedly stood up to greet him, putting on a coy face. “Sam, I’m sorry, did I disturb you?“.
Samuel descended two more steps, crossed the hall and stood in front of Chloe, looking down at her. “Not really. But why are you here so late?”
“I went to bed early, but as soon as I fell asleep, I had nightmares. I keep dreaming about the accident, Sam. I’m scared. I don’t dare stay home alone, so I came to find you.”
Samuel’s expression changed instantly.
Chloe said weakly, “I want to be by your side tonight, Sam. You don’t mind, do you?”
