Chapter 9 I Promised Her the Position of Mrs. Nelson
With a tearful face, Chloe looked at the vigorous man before her, thinking that as long as she mentioned the car accident, he wouldn’t push her away.
Chloe thought, “He owes her.”
‘He should spend his whole life repaying her.”

Samuel’s handsome face showed no expression as he turned to his housekeeper. “Prepare a guest room for Ms. Howard, please, Nora

Samuel walked past Chloe to the living room, asking with concern, “Did you get hungry coming all this way? Do you something to eat?”
Seeing Samuel’s always gentle attitude towards her, Chloe quickly smiled and walked over to him.
“I’m not hungry, just can’t sleep right now. Let’s chat for a while.”

Samuel poured her a glass of water. As he was about to say something, he turned and saw Eliana standing halfway down the stairs.
Eliana was looking at the two people sitting in the living room.
She hated this woman who was trying to steal her husband. How could she just do nothing?
Trying to snatch her man right in front of her? No way.
Eliana, barefoot, walked down the stairs step by step.
Samuel watched that small figure, seeing her in a thin spaghetti strap nightgown, beautiful enough to enchant anyone.
But her little feet were bare, he frowned and said disapprovingly, “Why did you come down without slippers?”
Eliana ignored him, trying hard to suppress her anger as she walked straight towards Samuel.
Chloe also watched Eliana approaching them, noticing her thin clothes, exposed skin, and bare feet, obviously trying to seduce Samuel:
Chloe realized that dealing with this woman might take some effort.
“Darling. I don’t feel well,” Eliana said, looking at her husband.
Standing next to Samuel, Eliana snuggled into his arms.
She even sat on his lap in front of Chloe, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Samuel initially wanted to pull her away, but seeing she wasn’t wearing shoes, he picked her up, looked at Chloe and said. “She’s still a bit childish, please don’t mind her.”
He then carried Eliana to the shoe cabinet to get her some slippers.
Eliana’s petite body hung on the man, her chin resting on his shoulder. Her challenging gaze fixed on Chloe, who sat on the sofa looking embarrassed and full of jealousy.
Chloe had always felt that Samuel owed her.
No matter what she asked Samuel to do, he would agree.
Even if it meant divorcing Eliana and marrying her, he wouldn’t refuse.
But now, seeing Samuel carry his young wife to find footwear for her, Chloe suddenly felt humiliated.

At this moment, Chloe felt both ashamed and quite suddenly, mortified.

Samuel was at a loss. People said he was cold and untouchable, cruel by nature, ruthless in his methods, and no one knew he can’t resist his wife’s coquettish behavior.
He had no choice but to carry her back to the living room.
Eliana, seeing he didn’t push her away, pretended to fall asleep on his shoulder.
Chloe hadn’t expected Samuel to personally puts on Eliana and carry her back.
She looked at the two embracing tightly before her, her eyes full of hatred.
Samuel spoke as if trying to send her away, “Chole, why don’t you get some rest? We can talk tomorrow. My wife’s been a bit under the weather lately, she can’t be away from me.”
Chloe looked at them furiously.
“The man in front of her is hers. He should spend his whole life making it up to her. Why should she suffer in loneliness while he gets to marry and maybe have children someday?”
“She, Chloe, couldn’t have children,‘ she thought bitterly, ‘so Samuel must also remain childless.”
Finally, reason made her suppress all her anger, and she continued to act graciously, saying gently, “Alright, I’ll go. But Sam, we’re going to be husband and wife in the future. I hope you two won’t act like this in front of me again.”
Nora had returned and Chloe followed her upstairs.
Eliana, still draped around her husband’s shoulders, gritted her teeth and glared at Chloe’s back.
But Chloe’s words about them becoming husband and wife in the future had deeply stabbed Eliana’s heart.
She angrily got herself down and sat on the sofa.
Samuel stood in front of Eliana, his eyes full of helplessness. “Eliana, don’t do this again in the future.”
Eliana met his gaze, her eyes red, and retorted, “What did I do wrong? You’re my husband, she’s the other woman, and

“She’s not ”
Samuel interrupted Eliana, sitting down next to her with a serious face.
“I owe Chloe too much. I promised her the position of Mrs. Nelson a long time ago.”
Eliana hadn’t expected Samuel to say such a thing. She asked in disbelief, “If she’s not the other woman, are you saying am?”
Samuel pressed his lips together, and said nothing.
Eliana remembered the half–prepared divorce agreement she had accidentally seen in Samuel’s study that morning.
So Samuel never thought there was anything wrong with bringing Chloe home. He was not only drafting divorce papers. but even considered his wife as the third party disrupting him and Chloe.
Before coming downstairs, she had specifically brought her pregnancy test results, thinking that if she couldn’t win against Chloe, she might as well come clean and tell them she was pregnant.
