Chapter 22: Have You Forgotten?
More than that, Andrea understood as Nanny is followed her about that this whole charade was a lot more intricate than she had thought. Every day, it would appear, she was becoming more and more lost, more and more unfamiliar with herself, and more and more alienated, especially from her former sell,
Nanny Jia, patient yet determined, guided Andrea upstairs, and as that happened once again, Andrea looked back to Daren in an expression of sheer desperation. Help me, her eyes said but Duren only shook his head slightly as if assuring her, Belax, you will be alright.
room had the fragrance of sweet lavender
Andrea felt agitated as Nanny Jia ushered her into a small and comfortable bedroom that had the remnants of many happy times with Sonia. The ro and golden rays of sunlight poured through the sheer curtains, huminating the serene space.
Once they were within the room, Nanny Jia made sure to lock the door. She then turned towards Andrea with a rather enthusiastic expression. “Now, my dear,” she said, and sat on the bed inviting Andrea to sit beside her. ‘I want every single detail of events that have transpired in your absence. I am curious even more.
Andrea opened her mouth but couldn’t figure out what to say as memories of everything that had transpired and what she had to say tumbled in her mind. She was almost completely in the dark as to the location of Sonia, and what she had experienced. The burden of keeping up the charade was getting too hard to bear and she palped down her fears and as if accepting defeat, sat beside Nanny Jia.
“Erm…” Andres began slowly, “it’s simple. Well, I mean, there’s a lot or a few, shall I say, things to discuss. Most definitely, it has been rather a long journey.”
Nanny is moved neater, expectantly with her wide brown eyes. “Surely, surely there is too much to recount. The cruise, the destinations, the people, the experiences. Everything. I want it
Everything spun again and Andrea urged herself to emember some of those details, her hands starting to feel clammy with perspiration. “The cruise right, yes. It was gorgeous. The sea was so clean and even the sunsets were out of this world. We.. we covered some few areas, um, like..” She ended her statement there, her mind refusing to retrieve the information in het
memories
Nanny Janodded as she remained focused on Andrea. However, Nanny lia’s gaze began to shift while Andrea struggled to elaborate on vague descriptions of fictitious locations and Landscapes. In particular, the older woman’s face became serious, and her eyes became slightly hostile.
“And there were people on the ship. I’m sure you made some friends there.” Nanny Jia’s voiced–but–could–be–heard–in–all–sense emotion now prevailed
Andrea’s brain started to lose it “Oh um, yes. There were a couple of them that I got along with but I just. I don’t remember all their names at the moment. It’s been a lot, you know?” Nanny lia turned her head edging at the side, her eyes scanning Andrea’s countenance. “You’ve forgott
Andrea froze. She could encompass the air around her Yease, her heart pounding vigorously in her chest. Oh no, how could I say that?
Nanny Jia’s expression qualified, but the worry was still visible in her voice as she spoke again. “Sonia, my love, did anything terrible happen in the course of your outing? You look…. changed. Did you hurt your header_?”
Andrea’s mind skadded in search of an excuse, any pretext that could obscure the gaffe. “Tamm, just thank God I am back, it has indeed been quite draining,” she quickly said, attempting to sound as cool as a cucumber. “It is all rather hazy, truthfully. A lot has occurred and I suppose I am still in the process of recuperating from it all.”
Nanny Jia stretched forth her hand and softly took hold of Andrea’s band, her voice sinister filled with motherly concern. “My poor child. I suspected something was amiss. You have endured a lot, haven’t you?”
Andrea nodded, attempting to mask the fact that there was nothing more comincing to Nanny fia than the table excuse she has just offered. But the truth was, surely, this is a very close call one word out of her, and it is game over
now present.” Nanny ja said gently, pressing Andrea’s hand. There is no need to face this in solitud
solitude again.”
Andrea forced a smile, which was weak, but waves of anxiety churned in her stomach. How much longer could she hold this pose?
While Andrea sat still holding Nanny Ja’s hand, a different farling engulfed har: love. It was obvious that everyone loved Sonia, especially Nanny lia, who gazed at her with adoration and tenderness. For a moment, it was okay for Andrea to soak in that warmth even if it was not directed at her.
Nanny la fondly exclaimed, “As always, you were my favorite sweetheart, and I have missed you so much even in the kitchen, sometimes I wish to prepare one of your favorite catch meals for you. How about Mothers peanut butter soup with boiled rice? With lots of memories attached
Andrea’s heart nearly fell to her stomach. Peanut butter? The word shot back and round in her memories, causing a ripple of incomprehensible fear. Peanuts were her worst enemy, and the memories of Nanny Jia suggesting preparing that dish were horrendous. But she could not just bluntly deny it, none would take notice plausible causes. She has to come up with something fast.
Reling her grip on the hand she was holding, Andreally I’ve been away for some time, Nanny, and my tastes have somewhat altered in a way. Some new ones, and, well, I guess peanut butter is not one of them anymore.”
lly grabbed Nanny Jia’s hand with a smile that seemed forced. “Oh made, that is so looked a deal for me but, um. This is because Nanny a tiled her head in surprise as if she was slightly hurt, then nodded to show she understood. “Oh, is that so? I can not comprehend! That was your favorite. So, what do you want instead of that?”
Somewhere in Andia’s brain, there was a frantic search for the information needed and the answers given were a little bit off. “Perhaps something to eat that is more… in nature? Possibly vegetable mix? Or, a simple but satisfying warm soup, perhaps, chicken? Something a bit fulfilling but not too much as to feel heavy afterward.”
Nanny Jia beamed. “Let’s go with a chock–full of nutrition sometimes called a ‘chicken twist soup. You always preferred something filling when you were under te weather which i will never forget. 1 will make you something yummy.”
Shelve absorbed her breath that she didn’t even realize she was holding, grateful that neither did she have to face the pran butter debacle avoidance, “Thanks, Nanny That works well As Nanny fastellop to head downtains, she granted Andrea’s cheek affectionately. “For you, my dear, anything is possible. You just relax, and I will do everything. ”
Andi wa nodded, watching het ps, her heart bumming with thanks but also an ever–present concern. She was aware that she couldn’t avoid these petty little issues disitely was only
