She leaned against the window. The gray curtains billowed in the gentle breeze, and the soft light accentuated her beautiful figure.
She continued, “Were you going to tell me about the collaboration with Greenwich Pharmaceuticals or the partnership with Anders Construction?”
After a brief pause, Natalie stammered, “Both.”
Liesel’s smile grew even more frigid.
“There’s no such company as Greenwich Pharmaceuticals in our country. Furthermore, the Ford Corporation had some unpleasant dealings with Anders Construction many years ago. They are now enemies, so there is no chance of a partnership at all.
“Ms. Natalie, how could you not know the facts that even the security guards who work here are aware of?” Liesel questioned calmly, but her voice was dripping with sarcasm.
She was basically trampling all over Natalie’s reputation.
“As Mr. Ford’s executive secretary, you don’t even have the most basic knowledge. Ms. Natalie, you should use this time to work on improving yourself instead of occupying yourself with sisterhood and catfights,” Liesel continued mockingly.
She then said, “I don’t want to be your elder sister, and the others don’t want to be your little sisters either. I hope you know that, Ms. Natalie.”
She spoke straightforwardly, throwing the merciless words in Natalie’s face like a harsh slap. She wanted to teach the latter the meaning of pain and knowing when to stop.
As soon as she said that, she shifted her gaze to Jacob.
Their eyes met.
Jacob’s eyes were dark and chilling.

She tore away her gaze and frowned slightly. “I am pausing today’s meeting here due to certain reasons. Since I have other matters to attend to, feel free to do as you wish, Mr. Ford.”
After nodding lightly, she didn’t spare Jacob another glance before turning around. She swept her gaze over the project department members and then left.
As if they’d gotten the hint, the project department members also hurriedly stood up and walked out.
Now, only Jacob and Natalie were left in this huge meeting room.
With reddened eyes, Natalie choked out, “Jake, I really just wanted to apologize. I didn’t have bad intentions. Do you think Liesel got the wrong idea?”
Jacob’s eyes flickered. He took a step forward and wiped the tears from her eyes in a gentle gesture.
“Ignore her. From now on, you won’t need to interact with her anymore.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “You don’t have to come to the project department anymore. For any project–related work, you can ask Drew to follow up.”
Natalie let out a sob and nodded.
After leaving the meeting room, before Liesel could return to her own office, she spotted a delivery man wearing a suit standing not too far away.
The delivery man was tall and handsome. When he spotted her, he approached her with a
smile.
“Are you Ms. Liesel Sharp? Here is a bouquet of Blue Enchantress hydrangeas and a necklace from Mr. Hardin.”
Upon hearing those words, the colleagues sitting behind Liesel collectively looked in her direction.
The bouquet was huge. Beneath the bright light, it seemed to glow faintly.
