Chapter 7
If the Ford Corporation’s secrets got leaked, the penalty fee had to be exorbitant.
The security guard tensed. Returning to his senses, he tried to chase Natalie out of the
room.
However, Natalle was one step faster. She ran up to Liesel into the meeting room.
She widened her round, doe eyes, which gave off an illusion of innocence and harmlessness.
“As my sister, you can’t do this to me, Liesel,” she said. She made it sound as if Liesel had just committed a grave mistake.
Sister?
That was ridiculous. In what way could she be considered Natalie’s sister?
It was all thanks to Natalie’s ability to put on an innocent expression and her calling Liesel her sister in such a pitiful tone.
“Natalie, my
mother only has one child. I’m not worthy of being called your sister,” Liesel said indifferently. “The project department is having a meeting today. If there’s nothing urgent, then please leave, Ms. Natalie. Don’t disrupt our work.”
“Liesel, I’m not here to disrupt your work. I came here to apologize to you!” Natalie said with righteous indignation. She refused to leave.
Liesel’s expression remained unmoved.
Pursing her lips, Natalie said evasively, “I didn’t get together with Jake on purpose. If I had known about your relationship with him, I wouldn’t have–Ah, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to bring this up. I just came here to apologize. I’m being sincere!”
Sincere?
The only thing she was sincere about was stirring up more trouble.
It was without a doubt that she had said those things so that the others in the audience would know that there had been something more between Liesel and Jacob in the past.
Also, she had wanted to make it a point that in the fight for Jacob’s feelings, Liesel had ended up exiled to the project department, while Natalie had risen to become the new pet.
There were already rumors about Liesel’s intimate relationship with Jacob. Now, because of Natalie’s stammering words, other people began to give her strange looks as well.
Liesel laughed in anger.
What a clever tactic. Not only had Natalie trampled all over Liesel’s reputation, but she had

even elevated her own status as the victor!
Natalie was no sheep; she was a wolf in sheep’s clothing who would snap another person’s neck without blinking an eye!
“Natalie.” Liesel casually raised an eyebrow. Her cool eyes glinted with a detached iciness.
She stood at the front with a calm expression and an indifferent gaze, while exuding at disdainful vibe like that of a queen.
An indescribable barrier seemed to form between them.
At that moment, Natalie suddenly felt the gap between herself and Liesel.
“Do you really not know? Could your father–who loves you and only wants to find a good partner for you–not know?” Liesel said in a sharp tone. Her voice was laced with sarcasm.
If Natalie was going to continue with his act, Liesel was going to expose her for being an illegitimate child.
Natalie was stunned. She caught sight of Jacob’s figure outside the door and began to panic.
She was at a loss. Her eyes turned bright red as they pooled with tears. Seemingly backing down, she said in a choked–up voice, “I really only came here to apologize. I had no malicious intent. Can you stop with your harsh words?
“We’re all working for the Ford Corporation. I just don’t want to put Jake in a difficult position. Liesel, can’t you just take a step back?”
Liesel said in an icy voice, “Ms. Natalie, are you perhaps unaware that there is no ‘Jake‘ at this company, only ‘Mr. Ford‘? Your actions will only make others think that Mr. Ford cannot keep his private and professional lives separate. You’re the one putting him in a difficult position.”
All of a sudden, Jacob’s deep voice sounded from the door. “Enough.”
In that instant, it became even clearer to Liesel that Natalie’s pitiful, considerate attitude had all been a show for him.
“Liesel, know when to stop.”
It was Natalie who provoked her first, but in the end, Liesel was the one who was told to draw the line.
How ridiculous.
“Mr. Ford, this is the seventh–floor project department. This isn’t the CEO’s office nor the secretary department on the top floor.”
While being in the project department, she had never provoked Natalie first. On the
contrary, it was Natalie who left the secretary department on her own accord to barge into

the meeting room and kick up a fuss.
Liesel played with the USB drive in her hand. There was a small smile on her lips.

“Or, perhaps Mr. Ford had asked Ms. Natalie to share some information with me about some projects,” she said. It sounded as if she was giving Natalie a chance to smooth over this situation.
“That’s right. Jake asked me to share some information with you!”
As expected, Natalie jumped down the first hole she saw.
“In that case, pray tell, what is the information that you wanted to share, Ms. Natalie?” Liesel chuckled quietly.
She rarely smiled. However, at that moment, her cold face seemed to glow brilliantly.
