Liesel had left Ford Manor not long ago, and this was Elijah’s secret hideout. How had Jacob found her so quickly? If he hadn’t spied on her, then what else could it be?
Liesel’s eyes darkened as the thought took root
No. Pe
there was a tracker planted on her all along. And the only thing that could hold
a tracker and that she carried with her regularly… was her phone.
Liesel pulled out her phone and looked Jacob in the eyes. “The tracker is in here, isn’t it?”
While Jacob remained silent, Elijah smiled as he took the phone from Liesel. He asked, ” Ms. Sharp, would you mind if I disassembled your phone?”
Liesel shook her head and handed it over.
With quick, practiced movements, Elijah disassembled the phone. Sure enough, there was a tracking device inside. He removed it, weighed it lightly in his hand, and toyed with it.
“It’s a two–year–old brand. Looks like this tracker has been in here for quite some time.”
Elijah’s smile lingered, but it was laced with coldness. “Mr. Ford, why did you plant a tracker on her? Are you afraid Ms. Sharp might cheat on you? Seems a bit excessive to me.”
Then, Elijah tossed the tracker back to Jacob, who glared at him with sharp eyes. Feigning innocence, Elijah continued to fiddle with Liesel’s phone before handing it back to her.
Liesel’s face had now darkened completely. The moment Jacob arrived, the light in her eyes had vanished.
“Denzel’s back. Come with me to the hospital. He’ll give you a medical examination,” Jacob uttered. He had steered the conversation away from the tracker.
Denzel Johanson was the heir to the Johanson family, a prominent lineage in Ashthome’s medical field. He was also the current director of Cloudspire Hospital, a prestigious institution in the city.
From a young age, Denzel had shown extraordinary medical talent. He had mastered. traditional medicine passed down through his family while also studying modern medicine abroad. His reputation as a genius physician stretched far and wide. Even abroad, people referred to him as Professor Johanson.
He had grown up with Jacob, and although his relationship with Liesel was more professional, they were considered friends. Still, the two hadn’t interacted much outside of work.
The last time Liesel had spoken with Denzel was quite some time ago. It was around Jacob’s birthday. She had asked him about Jacob’s preferences so that she could buy a gift,

and when he would be home.
But that had been the extent of their conversation.
Although Denzel would occasionally forward funny memes, he always mentioned that it was accidental and he did it to entertain his elderly relatives since he rarely spent time
with them due to work.
Denzel was a man of strict discipline, humor, and clear boundaries. He wasn’t the most approachable person. Now that Jacob was asking Denzel to examine her….
If Denzel discovered her pregnancy, would he help her keep it a secret?
Liesel kept her eyes down and made sure her expression betrayed nothing suspicious. Meanwhile, Jacob instructed Natalie to head to the company herself before taking Liesel to Cloudspire Hospital.
Denzel had just changed out of his white coat and was sitting in his office chair. He wore a black shirt and was rubbing the bridge of his nose as though he were exhausted.
“Sorry, there was a car accident in the Bellflower district last night. I just got out of surgery. Give me a minute to gather myself,” he said.
Denzel had only just returned from abroad. Since the car crash involved a close friend of his grandfather, Bernard Johanson, Denzel had been personally requested to perform the surgery. He was just now getting out of the operating room.
Liesel naturally hoped to delay the medical examination for as long as possible.
After about ten minutes, Denzel brewed some fresh tea.
