“Ms. Sharp, you missed it yesterday. That new secretary, Natalie, made another mistake. This time, she messed up the decimal points on the financial report. Thankfully, our review was thorough enough to catch it; otherwise, that contract would have cost Ford Corporation a fortune.”
A secretary who had worked with Liesel before remarked when she saw Liesel entering the CEO’s office. She was clearly not holding back her disdain for Natalie.
She didn’t address Natalie formally since Liesel shared the same surname, and it might sound like she was jeering at Liesel instead of Natalie.
“Exactly. She thinks everyone here has to clean up her mess. Ms. Sharp, you can’t keep helping her out every time she makes a mistake,” another secretary with glasses added with a hint of impatience.
“If she doesn’t have the capability, she shouldn’t be in that position. She’s delusional to think she can match up to you. She’s better off just sitting in the office and stamping
papers.
Those in the secretary department chuckled as they openly mocked Natalie.
Liesel frowned at the conversation.
“What contract are you talking about2iesel asked. She was concerned it might be one of
the contracts she had worked on before her transfer.
A secretary quickly handed Liesel the contract Natalie had made errors on.
Liesel examined the document with a neutral expression. This was a contract she had negotiated with an overseas partner a week before her transfer.
It was a significant deal, similar to the one with Hardin Group. If the decimal point had been wrong, it could have resulted in a near–billion–dollar loss for Ford Corporation.
Such carelessness was inexcusable.
Liesel walked into the CEO’s office with the contract in hand.
Jacob appeared aloof and detached as always. When he heard the door open, he frowned and looked up. When he saw who it was, his expression softened slightly.
“Is something the matter?”
Liesel placed the contract on his desk and pushed it toward him. Jacob glanced at the title of the document and immediately recognized it
“Mr. Ford, do you know about Natalie’s mistake? She entered the wrong decimal point, nearly costing Ford Corporation billions of dollars of losses.”

Jacob looked at her, noting her outfit. It was a white long dress and the red necklace from Elijah, with the traces he left seemingly concealed by foundation. His gaze darkened as he scanned the contract.
“As you said, it was just a close call. Not an actual loss to Ford Corporation,” he said. blandly.
“Ridiculous.” Liesel was frustrated. “Jacob, I understand Natalie is someone you hold dear, but you can’t be so indulgent. This contract took me months to research and revise, and it was a significant achievement to secure the deal overseas.
“Natalie’s mistake had nearly led to the contract’s failure, and now you’re defending her? I can see you want to support her and hope she takes over your responsibilities, but you need to ensure that the people around you are reliable.
“It’s
fine to let her learn and grow, but don’t let her mishandle deals that I’ve worked so hard to secure.”
Every time such issues arose, Liesel felt Jacob’s favoritism toward Natalie was glaringly
apparent.
If it were anyone else who made such a mistake, they would have been dismissed from Ford Corporation by now. Yet, Natalie seemed to be shielded and defended by Jacob despite
her errors.
