“Ms. Watson, someone mentioned that your ideal type is Mr. Ford. Are you two dating? Are you here because of him?” a journalist asked.
Lara’s cheeks grew red. Her dimples appeared as she smiled and said, “Mr. Ford and I are still just friends. So, stop speculating.”
With that said, the journalist perceptively captured the word “still.”
“Still friends… So, it means there is a possibility for you to explore this relationship. Is that what you mean, Ms. Watson?” the journalist probed.
Lara flushed and stealthily glanced at Jacob. Beside him, she looked reserved and shy. He was tall, and she had to raise her head to see his face.
She even felt he had shielded most of the cold wind coming their way just by standing beside her. Deep inside, she was elated in a way words couldn’t describe.
She couldn’t help but recall his impressive background and looks, which rivaled those of other A–list celebrities, along with a social status that no other beautiful stars could match.
Every move of his exuded composure and wisdom.
Naturally, Lara was fully committed to pursuing Jacob. No one could ever say no to being his girlfriend; rather, everyone would throw themselves at him.
What female stars desired the most was to find a partner who could help them climb the ladder. In this case, Jacob was the strongest ladder. Many would inevitably be envious of her once she became his girlfriend.
Jacob never had any scandals surrounding him or had any women in his life. Whoever became his partner would reflect the seriousness and importance they held in his heart, which was something Lara knew well.
She remained silent in front of the eager journalists. Her tone of implicit agreement provided ample material for their articles.
Meanwhile, Jacob revealed a faint smirk. Suddenly, he spoke into the mic. “Ms. Watson isn’t my type.”
The crowd erupted in shock, and the journalists were stunned. They hadn’t expected Jacobi to be so blunt. He had outrightly rejected her in front of everyone.
Didn’t he notice how shy she was? Didn’t he notice how she had wanted to speak but held back? She obviously had a thing for him! Too bad, it was a one–sided love.
Instantly, Lara’s face went pale as quickly as her smile stiffened. She stood awkwardly in place while struggling to maintain her smile with every passing second.
Chapter 37
Since it was Jacob she was with, she dared not retaliate even if she felt humiliated.
“What’s your type then, Mr. Ford?” The journalist quickly followed up.
Amid the uproar, Liesel stood outside the crowd, seemingly unable to contain her joy. Suddenly, she locked eyes with Jacob.
At the sight of her overjoyed expression, he raised his brows and pointed in her direction.” Like, Ms. Sharp over there.”
The crowd descended into a deafening silence.
Nobody could’ve anticipated Jacob to actually answer the question, never mind the woman being at the event now!
Not only were the journalists stunned, but so was Liesel. She couldn’t believe he had dragged her down into this mess with him.
Before she could say it was all fun and games, someone in the crowd screamed, “Mr. Ford likes them smart!
The crowd erupted into laughter. Everyone knew Lara was an academic underachiever!
