The maids working at the villa only took instructions from those who seemed to have more authority. They pretended as if they didn’t see Adrian shouting at Harper and went on with their tasks.
Harper hadn’t once suffered such harsh treatment back when Carter was still around. She cried even louder after Adrian yelled at her.
“You’re a bad guy! I don’t like you! Get out! I want my daddy!”
However, Harper received a forceful slap on the face instead.
Adrian pointed at her. His face twisted into a grimace. “Still looking for your daddy? Your daddy doesn’t want you anymore. So, shut up and give me a massage on my shoulders now. Otherwise, I’m kicking you out of the house tonight!”
Hearing that her father didn’t want her anymore was enough to give any child a big shock. Harper shoved Adrian away the next instant. “You’re lying! There’s no way Daddy doesn’t want me anymore!”
Adrian was standing at the top of the stairs when Harper pushed him. He immediately lost his balance and rolled down the stairs.
Harper looked at her hands and glanced at Adrian, who was lying in a pool of blood. She fainted almost immediately.
Selene received two news not long after she had regained consciousness.

first was Adrian had been admitted to the hospital because he was injured during a bad fall. The other news was that Harper was also admitted to the hospital because she was so shocked by what happened to Adrian.
Selene clenched her fists as she looked at Harper’s red, swollen cheek. Her face darkened.
“Take care of Ms. Harper.”
After instructing the nanny, Selene turned and headed to Adrian’s ward.
After he woke up, Adrian was informed that he had broken his leg during the fall. His face was also disfigured by a long cut.
He was yelling at the maid standing at the side when Selene entered through the door.
The maid was visibly relieved after seeing Selene She lowered her head. “Ms. Selene.”
Adrian acted completely differently when he noticed Selene was in the room.

“Selene, I know Harper didn’t do it on purpose. Still, my leg… The doctor said I probably wouldn’t look the same as I used to because of the wound on my face. How do I become the Miller family’s son–in–law if that happens?”
Tears rolled down his cheeks.
“That would be perfect.” Selene wouldn’t have to take it into her own hands then.
Adrian’s face turned white–he hadn’t expected that reaction from Selene. “Selene, what are you saying?”
