Meanwhile, Selene, who was naked, leaned against a man’s firm chest. Yet, she was feeling
more and more uneasy.
Her heart missed a beat as she recalled seeing the calm, distant look in Carter’s eyes before leaving the place with Harper earlier.
Adrian, who circled his arms around Selene, hadn’t noticed her restlessness. He was about to press his lips on her cheek, but Selene shoved him away.
“Honey?” With a confused look on his face, Adrian was about to reach for Selene again.
However, Selene didn’t even spare him a glance as she got out of bed and picked up her torn blouse.
She stared at the blouse with a frown before tossing it aside. Then, Selene got a new blouse from the closet and put it on.
She was about to leave the room when Adrian asked, “Honey, where are you going?”
He was flustered when he saw Selene heading for the door in large strides. He didn’t even put on his slippers as he got out of bed and hurried after her.
Selene stopped him. “Harper and I are going back now. Be good and stay here.”
Her stern warning halted Adrian in his tracks. He watched as Selene went to the next room and carried Harper, who was still asleep, down the stairs.
Adrian gritted his teeth. Eventually, he put on his slippers and went after them.
As Selene opened the front door, a delivery man was standing outside the door.
“Is this Mr. Adrian Jennings‘ house?”
Adrian walked over to where Selene and Harper were. He nodded. “That’s me. Is something the matter?”
The delivery man took a few steps to the side, revealing two big boxes behind him.
“These are the items Mr. Carter Grant has asked us to deliver to you. Can you please sign for the packages?”
Upon hearing Carter’s name, Selene immediately directed her gaze to those two boxes. Even Harper, who was sleeping in Selene’s arms, had woken up as well.
“Daddy?”
Adrian hadn’t had the time to check Selene’s and Harper’s reactions. After signing the documents, he bent down to open the boxes. Adrian looked puzzled.

“Why did he send these packages to me?”
Selene put Harper down and walked closer to the boxes.
Meanwhile, Adrian froze when he saw the contents in one of the boxes. He took something out
of it. “This is…”
When she saw the item he was holding, Selene darted forward and opened the other box as well. The items inside the boxes were either the gifts she and Harper had given Carter or the gifts they had received from Carter.
Her mind raced. Selene tried to clear her head. Yet, everything seemed to spin before her eyes, making it impossible for her to think clearly.
She gripped the edges of the box tightly. Her heartbeat quickened. She couldn’t understand why these things were here.
Harper looked confused as well when she saw the items. “Why did Daddy send all these things here?”
The delivery man seemed like he had just remembered something. He took out a family photo. and placed it on one of the boxes.
“Oh, right. Mr. Grant also said that he’s giving these things, including his wife and child, to Mr. Adrian Jennings. He no longer needs them.”

“He… He knew? How did he find out?” Selene wondered silently. She ignored Adrian calling after her from behind, picked up Harper, and got into the car.
Harper dared not utter a word as she took in Selene’s dark expression.
Just as the traffic lights turned red, Selene slammed on the brakes. She grimly turned her gaze toward the digital billboard by the roadside.
The billboard was showing a jewelry advertisement at first, but it went black for a few seconds. Then, numerous intimate photos of Selene and Adrian and the photos of them with Harper were displayed one after another on the billboard.
Selene and Carter’s lavish and stunning wedding was one of the most frequently discussed topics on the internet back when it happened. Moreover, she would often tell others how much of a loving couple they were.
Many passersby recognized Selene almost instantly and noticed the man beside her was not Carter. They pointed at the billboard and took their phones out to snap photos.
Inside the car, Selene and Harper exchanged a glance. Their eyes reflected their horror. They couldn’t understand how these photos were leakerl.
Just then, they found the answer from a line that appeared on the billboard.
“Carter Grant wishes Selene Miller, Harper Miller, and Adrian Jennings will live happily ever after as a family of three.”
Selene tightened her grip on the steering wheel and stared hard at the billboard without even blinking.
“Carter! How could it be him?” she roared internally.
Selene was about to say something, but the traffic lights had turned green. The cars behind her were honking nonstop.
The Maybach sped down the road. It soon disappeared from everyone’s sight.
Selene took just 40 minutes to get home when it normally took her an hour. She didn’t even park her car properly. After getting out of the car she strode toward the villa.
She swung the front door open….
