I had attended my fair share of business events, so the glitz and glamour weren’t unfamiliar to me. However, this kind of setup was something new.
Pierce had chosen a private room that spanned over 860 square feet. Around ten portly company owners sat on separate couches, with small tables in front of them filled with fine wines and imported delicacies.
In the center of the room was a full–length mirrored stage, where a well–known singer performed with a mic. A line of stunning young women entered, each approaching the men on the couches.
Quincey sat next to Pierce and constantly rolled her eyes at the ladies who tried to get close to him. Luckily, Pierce didn’t seem interested in them.
I sat in a corner, silently observing everything.
The men were focused on drinking and enjoying themselves, avoiding any real discussion about the business at hand.
If no businesses moved into Porthcawl Town once it was built, the services would undoubtedly suffer.
Moreover, the location of Porthcawl Town was quite remote. Only the wealthiest brands could afford to participate.
Lyon Group would only consider investing if these owners joined the project.
One of the men, Eliot Wilder, was the leader of the company owners. He squinted and said to Pierce, “Pierce, your dad only managed to secure Porthcawl Town’s land with my help. Your mom even made a toast to me to show her gratitude.”
He laughed loudly, and the others followed suit, chuckling along.
Then another man, Franco Smith, nostalgically recalled Pierce’s mother.
“Your mom used to work as a waitress at Auburn Grill. Her beauty captivated so many people. It’s such a shame that she shut herself away after your sister drowned at the beach.
His tone was extremely suggestive.
Pierce’s face darkened. The scar on the left side of his face shifted like a snake preparing to strike. Yet, he held himself back and steered the conversation back to business.” Gentlemen, if you decide to enter Porthcawl Town, I’ll offer you a year’s rent–free.”
Eliot shook his wine glass, uninterested in the offer.
Just then, he noticed Quincey sitting beside Pierce. He slapped his thigh and exclaimed, ”

Are you the famous natural beauty, Quincey? You’re even more stunning in person than in the videos.”
Franco stood up and admired her for a while. “A young beauty is indeed different. All those ordinary women pale in comparison.”
Quincey was still unaware of the meaning behind their words. She pretended to be shy, flipping her hair.
Her white dress only enhanced her ethereal appearance.
Eliot waved for the women in the room to step back. His eyes were fixed on Quincey.” Pierce, is she your girlfriend?”
Quincey’s face lit up as she gazed expectantly at Pierce.
Pierce shook his head.
Seeing this, Eliot immediately sat down next to Quincey. “I heard you’re a professor. I have a few questions I’d like to ask.”
He reached over to pull Quincey’s shoulder toward him. His greasy lips nearly touched hers.
Enraged, Quincey slapped Eliot across the face. ‘I’m Mr. Holden’s secretary! Don’t get too close.”
While
many men had fallen under Quincey’s charm, she wasn’t interested in them. She believed her looks and the skills she’d learned from Bianca’s training program meant only someone wealthy and attractive like Pierce was worthy of her.
Furious at being slapped in front of everyone, Eliot immediately turned to Pierce and declared, “If your secretary doesn’t apologize, you can forget about the collaboration.” He then leered at Quincey. “I’ll decide on how she should apologize.”
