I slipped into the car without hesitation, blocking Christian’s attempt to lunge at me.
As I prepared to drive away, Christian’s expression shifted into a bizarre smile. He raised the knife and pressed it against his wrist.
“Shiloh, if you don’t give Juni to me, I’ll die right here in front of you. When I’m gone, my death will be on your conscience. Don’t let it haunt you at night!”
Although I doubted that Christian would actually go through with it, the sight still unnerved me. I was not afraid of him dying, but I did not want his death to become something he used to torment me.
Seeing no reaction from me, Christian gritted his teeth and slashed his wrist.
The crowd screamed as blood quickly trickled down, and Christian collapsed to his knees in pain. I immediately covered Juni’s eyes, shielding her from the sight.
After securing Juni in the car, I stepped out and approached Christian.
He was kneeling with his face contorted in pain, but I could tell the wound was not deep. He clearly had no real intention of dying.
Leaning in close, I whispered, “Christian, stop pretending. I know you’re not trying to kill yourself.
“And by the way, I know you drugged Juni with sleeping pills to sneak away and meet Peyton. Your actions caused her to spike a fever so severe she needed to be hospitalized and have her stomach pumped.
“I have evidence of you drugging her. If I hand it to the police, do you think you’ll escape prison? Stay away from me for your own good, and don’t come near me or Juni ever again. We’re done for good.”
Christian’s face turned ghostly pale, drained of all color. His lips trembled, and he was clearly unable to comprehend how I had uncovered his actions.
However, judging by his expression, I knew he would not dare trouble Juni and me again.
I then got back into the car and drove toward the airport with Juni without a backward glance.
Our new life officially began that day.
