Chapter 4
I wanted to take a closer look at Peyton’s phone, but Christian yanked me away with even more force.
Clutching Juni tightly, I stormed toward the door. “Christian, I’m done with this! I’m leaving!”
Christian’s face turned pale. “Shiloh, you married into my family and moved here. Where else can you even go? You hit Peyton, and she didn’t even retaliate. Yet you’re acting all high and mighty now? Apologize to her right now!”
I stared him down. “Never!”
With that, I swung the door open and walked out.
Christian shouted after me, “Don’t come back if you’re so brave! And don’t you dare spend a single cent of my money!”
Lignored the rest of his yelling, called for a ride and headed straight to a five–star hotel
On the way, my emotions were all over the place as I held Juni in my arms. From now on, it would just be me and my daughter, and we would rely on each other.
However, when I recalled the moment I glimpsed Peyton’s phone screen, I could not help but chuckle bitterly. I pulled out my phone and made another call.
Christian did not contact me for an entire week He was likely waiting for me to admit
defeat.
Meanwhile, Peyton was quite active on social media, posting updates flaunting her relationship with Christian, showing how attentive he was to her.
Of course, I had not been idle either. I bought a large apartment in a southern city. It was a secondhand property, but it would allow me and Juni to move in sooner. My priority was to settle Juni down as quickly as possible.
Adam also finished drafting the divorce agreement. After signing it, I mailed it to Christian.
Yet to my surprise, Christian flatly refused to sign.
“Shiloh, haven’t you had enough? Even tantrums have a limit. Why are you divorcing me out of nowhere?”
I replied calmly, “Just tell me–will you or not?”
Si
“No!” Christian declared firmly. “I’ll never agree to a divorce! Are you seriously still jealous of Peyton? There’s nothing between us–we’re just colleagues! Our relationship is
completely innocent!”
