Chapter 4
Liam quickly chimed in, “As her family, I agree!”
Seeing the nurse approach with the syringe, I struggled in desperation. I was screaming, but no one around stepped in to help.
“Stop! Let her go immediately!” Suddenly, a loud, commanding voice silenced the entire
room.
My brother, Zac Jasper, had arrived with the medical team just in time.
Taking advantage of the stunned security and nurses, I shoved them aside and rushed to Zac’s side in a few quick steps.
“Zac, please save Mia!”
He comforted me with a reassuring pat on the shoulder, then turned to Liam with fiery
anger.
“Are you really helping outsiders harm your own wife and child?
“Where’s the diagnosis declaring Mia brain–dead? Show it!”
My entire body trembled, drenched in cold sweat. If Zac had not arrived in time, I would have been sedated and forced to sign the form, losing Mia forever.
Blair regained her composure and looked at Zac with arrogance.
“And who are you?
“This is an intensive care ward! Security! The patient’s immediate family can stay. Everyone else, clear out!”
Zac was not intimidated in the slightest and sneered. “I’m Mia’s uncle, her immediate family! I’m questioning your diagnosis. Show us the report!”
Liam and Blair immediately looked flustered.
“Why didn’t I know Mia had an uncle?
“Didn’t Layla say she had no family?”
Sally turned to glare at me.
With red–rimmed eyes, I clung to Zac’s hand. “Zac, I’m sorry. I was foolish back then, deceived by this monster… I know I was wrong
Zac wiped away my tears. “Let’s deal with the hospital transfer first. As for your divorce with Liam, I’ll handle that when we get home.

Liam let out a sarcastic laugh. “Only Mia’s biological parents can decide on a transfer. Even if her grandparents show up, it won’t change anything.”
Sally echoed, “That’s right! This is a Powell family matter, none of you outsiders have any say!”
Zac’s expression darkened as he prepared to argue, but Blair stepped forward to block him.
“Uncle or not, a transfer requires both the parents‘ consent and the attending doctor’s approval.
“As Mia’s doctor, I believe she doesn’t meet the conditions for a transfer, and I won’t approve it.”
I shot a fierce glare at Blair.
ル
“I’ll sign a waiver. My medical team will handle the safety of the transfer, and your hospital won’t be held accountable for anything! Whether you approve or not makes no difference!”
Just as the tension reached a breaking point, the hospital director, John Zimmer, arrived unexpectedly.
Zac whispered to me, “Don’t worry, I already spoke to Mr. Zimmer before coming.

I let out a breath, hoping Mr. Zimmer would bring fairness to the situation.
He cleared his throat and spoke calmly, “I’ve been briefed on the situation. Mrs. Powell doesn’t agree with Dr. Lincoln’s diagnosis, and therefore, she no longer wants to sign the organ donation form and is requesting a hospital transfer. Is that correct?”
Blair nodded nervously.
Mr. Zimmer continued, “Then bring over all the reports confirming the patient’s brain death. Once Mrs. Powell reviews them, everything should become clear.”
Liam and Blair both visibly tensed.
Blair hesitated, then stammered, “Mr. Zimmer due to the rush of the situation, our team was up all night resuscitating the patient, and we still have other work. The report hasn’t been fully compiled yet.”
I could not help but loudly mock her.
“Not compiled yet? Or is it not falsified yet?”
