Blair bit her lip upon hearing this, lowering her head as if on the verge of tears.
“I don’t understand. This was something the family had already agreed to. Our team has been working all day, and the reporters we invited are anxiously waiting.
“And now, just because one family member refuses to accept the truth, we’re being pushed to this extreme?”
The surrounding doctors and nurses could not help but voice their support.
“Yeah, we’ve all seen how hard Dr. Lincoln has worked!“.
“All that hard work for nothing because of some unreasonable troublemaker!”
“This woman already agreed to sign the form. Think of all the families waiting for those organs. How happy they must have been when they heard the news! And now, giving them hope only to take it away. That’s just cruel.”
Liam stood behind Blair, firmly supporting her
“As the family, I don’t doubt Dr. Lincoln’s diagnosis for a second.
“Layla, you’ve made enough of a scene! And now you’ve brought all these people here to apply pressure? You’ve gone too far!”
Bitterness filled my mouth as the accusatory, disdainful, and angry glares from those around me weighed heavily, making it hard to breathe.
Zac steadied my trembling hand and firmly said, “Since Mr. Zimmer said so, we’ll wait for the report.”
A nurse was dispatched to Blair’s office. Amidst the commotion, a few reporters who had been waiting in the office crept over, discreetly lifting their cameras.
But then, I noticed Mr. Zimmer quietly walk over to Blair, giving her a meaningful look and
a nod.
I was filled with doubt and gave Zac a gentle nudge.
He caught on to what I had seen. He thought for a moment, and whispered a few instructions to a young, inconspicuous member of the transfer team behind us.
Before I could say anything further, the nurse returned with the brain death report. Mr. Zimmer looked it over confidently before handing it to Zac and me.
“The report is complete, the data is normal, and the diagnosis is accurate.” Shortly after, the transfer team reached their conclusion.
Zac looked shocked, and I shouted in disbelief. That’s impossible! How can the diagnosis

Liam’s previously tense body relaxed, and he let out a sinister laugh.
“Layla, the facts have proven it. It’s you who’s been unreasonable.
“Now apologize to Blair, and tell your brother and these people to leave!”
Sally clapped her hands in approval. “The shrew’s family is just as good at causing trouble. This is medical harassment! Get them out of here!”
Blair began to cry, pretending to be the victim.
The crowd, now enraged, joined in. Even the reporters were frustrated.
“This really is medical harassment! Poor Dr. Lincoln!‘
“She brought all these people to gang up on Dr. Lincoln, a defenseless woman. I can’t watch this anymore!”
“They need to get rid of these troublemakers! Don’t let them disrupt Dr. Lincoln’s work any longer!”
As the crowd’s anger swelled, I felt like I had fallen into an ice–cold abyss.
Mr. Zimmer had sided with Blair. The report must have been falsified with his help!
“I don’t believe it! Mia can’t be brain–dead! Liam, if you have any conscience left, tell everyone that Blair’s daughter is-”
Liam cut me off angrily. “Enough! Haven’t you insulted me, my mother, and Blair enough? Now you want to drag Blair’s family into this too?”
The crowd erupted in discontent, and Mr. Zimmer waved for security to step in.
Just then, Zac leaned in and whispered urgently in my ear.
My eyes lit up.
I glanced over and saw the young man Zac had sent earlier sneaking into the office.
He was signaling to me with a gesture.
