While everyone was gossiping, a sharp–eyed viewer suddenly noticed my figure.
“Isn’t that Yasmine Thorne’s brainless mother? What’s she doing here? She’s not trying to give Yasmine an engagement gift, is she?”
“Quick, streamer, follow her! Is there some juicy gossip going on?”
“Damn, this woman is so dumb. She’s unstoppable!”
I ignored the comments and walked straight to the reception.
When Harlan and Lana, who were dressed to the nines, saw me, their eyes widened in shock. “What are you doing here? Today is Yasmine’s big day. Stay away from our family, pauper!”
“Where’s the security? Get this person out of here! How could they let someone like her in? Do they want this hotel to be shut down?”

The security guards quickly approached with batons and signaled for me to leave.” Sorry, Ms. Roberts, you cannot enter the engagement party.”
I looked at the two of them, who were on high alert, and calmly said, “I have an invitation. Why can’t I enter?”
Lana glared at Harlan. “Did you send her an invitation?”
Harlan shouted while clutching his head, “How is that possible?! I never sent her an invitation! She must be lying to us!”
He nodded firmly. “That’s right, this woman must be starving and wants to sneak into our luncheon to eat the leftover food!”
To convince Lana, Harlan took a fruit platter from the table and dumped it at my feet. “Here! Is this enough? These are imported dried fruits and nuts. Just pick them up and go eat them somewhere else! Don’t get in the way!”
Lana covered her mouth and laughed. “I didn’t expect the once high and mighty Ms. Roberts to actually end up like this.”
I silently raised my foot and
an invitation card out of my bag.
“Sorry, I’m an elder from the groom’s family.”
