Chapter 218
“Annie. Zeke called out shakily as Anastasia was about to leave.
Anastasia paused, turning to look at Zeke.
Zeke told Anastasia, “Your mother’s belongings are. At the old Lawson residence… See if you can… Find any clues.”
The old Lawson residence was where they once lived. It was located in the resettlement area. Anastasia needed to search the house quickly before the demolition started.
Anastasia took a deep breath. She remembered that the area had been bought by the Gunn Group for future development.
Hastily leaving the hospital, Anastasia hailed a cab to head to the resettlement area where the old Lawson residence was. Hopefully, that house hadn’t been demolished yet.
When Anastasia rushed to the resettlement area, she found most of the old houses had already been tom down.
“It’s under demolition right now, very dangerous. You can’t enter the arca” said a staff member, blocking Anastasia from entering.
Feeling anxious, Anastasia pleaded, There are important things at my home. Please let me go in and look for it.”
The worker refused, “No, it’s against the regulations. It’s under construction, so you’re not allowed to go in. If you get hurt, who will be responsible?”
He was just following the rules.
Anastasia was so desperate that she was about to cry. She begged, “Sir, please let me go to my home. My mom’s belongings are in there”
The worker sighed and explained. “Miss, please don’t make it difficult for us. Right now, no one can enter unless a company executive is here for an inspection. If we let you in and the boss finds out about it, we’ll all get fired.”
Anastasia knew she shouldn’t make things difficult for the workers, but she was at a loss about whom to ask for help to get inside.
Anastasia attempted to persuade the workers, “You are currently demolishing the southwest area, while my house is located in the north. It is quite distant, so there should be no risks involved. The demolition in this area has not begun yet.”
“No way. Unless our boss approves it, we won’t let you in the worker shook his head and stated.
Anastasia took a deep breath.
She knew that the construction project was being conducted by an engineering firm that was part of the Gunn Group. Then she considered asking Jason if he could seek Samuel’s assistance.
Anastasia really didn’t want Jason to keep bothering his mentor and Samuel, but she had no other options right now.
Everything that had happened recently had been so unbelievable. Anastasia wanted to get to the bottom of it. She couldn’t die with regrets.
She could understand Harold wanting to kill her, but she couldn’t figure out why someone would pay Harold millions to end her life.
To whom was her life worth that much?
Anastasia wanted to find out the truth to see if it had any connection with her real father.
Standing under the shade of the tree, Anastasia hesitated for a long time before finally calling Jason.
“All done, Your Majesty? Jason answered the call almost immediately, playfully teasing Anastasia
Anastasia rubbed her forehead and said, “Not yet. Alastor’s on a business trip and said he’d be back in a few days.”
“Bastard…” Jason muttered softly. He added, “He’s definitely stalling on purpose
Anastasia said, “I’m currently at my former home in the resettlement area, Ivywood Heights. I’d like to retrieve my mother’s belongings, but the area is slated for development by the Gunn Group, and demolition has already begun
“The workers won’t allow me access without approval from management. Would it be possible for you to ask Mr. Zabinski to contact the higher–ups at the Gunn Group?”

Chapter 218
Anastasia’s voice was kept low.
Jason was silent for a few seconds before he said, “Stay right there. I’ll be over in a minute.”
“Aren’t you… Aren’t you busy?” asked Anastasia gently.
“What could be more important than you!” Jason said before hanging up.
Holding her phone, Anastasia felt a mix of emotions.
Jason’s words were once what she most wanted to hear. She used to believe that this was how love and marriage should be.
Back then, Alastor was also overwhelmed with work. When she fainted from low blood sugar and was sent to the hospital, she called Alastor, but he said he was busy at a meeting.
Yet when Felicia just had an allergic reaction, Alastor hurried her to the hospital and even postponed meetings right in front of Anastasia,
Anastasia let out a sarcastic laugh and looked up at the sky.
Once you compare two things, you realize the true pain.
